Oak House

The family wanted one floor, one roof and a view of the oaks from every room they use. We set the house back from the street behind a planted entrance court and kept the roof low and long.

Inside, the ceiling lifts over the dining room into a gable of windows that faces the trees. The kitchen runs alongside it, with one long island where everyone ends up.

Oak floors, white walls and black steel windows throughout, so the garden does most of the decorating.
